DREAM BIG DANCE CHALLENGE RULES
Solo’s, Duo’s, Trios and Dance Troupes
General
By entering any Dream Big Dance Challenge competition, you acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined in the rules including but not limited to time limits, age groups, and section eligibility, as outlined on Dream Big Dance Challenge website and as put forth by Dream Big Dance Challenge Management.
All entries must be done legally and honestly and hereby release all directors, officers or representatives from any claims for damages or injuries sustained while participating in any activity related to this competition.
By entering any Dream Big Dance Challenge competition you agree that all rules are final and that our team/staff will not engage in any correspondence with a parent/teacher/participant once a rule is broken to have this rule overturned or opened for discussion. All rules are the same at each regional competition, this includes issues with music.
We reserve the right to refuse entry to any person.
Entrants enter at their own risk. Dream Big Dance Challenge accepts NO responsibility for any injury or accident to any persons associated with the event, either as an Entrant, Volunteer, or a member of the General Public, at any time.
Dream Big Dance Challenge reserves the right to cancel, move or extend any competition in accordance with the response to the number of entries or unforeseen circumstances. In case of cancellation, all funds will be returned promptly one to two weeks out of the event.
By registering online for any Dream Big Dance Challenge event, the studio and its teachers acknowledge that they have read and understand the rules and regulations of the event, and that they in turn have informed all parents as to the same requirements. Once a studio submits its entries to Us, the studio acknowledges your understanding of the rules and the liability clause put in place at all events.
Dream Big Dance Challenge shall decide on any matter not covered by these rules and its decision on any questions or dispute shall be final.
There cannot be any prompting etc during any performance to ‘coach’ the entrant.
No pre-recorded tapping sounds are permitted in tap routines.
It is the responsibility of the entrant/parent/guardian/studios that all entries have been submitted correctly and honestly.
By entering our competitions, you agree to receive marketing material from Us from time to time.
By entering our competitions, you agree to give consent for any photography and videography taken of the entrant to be taken and used on our social media pages and official website for marketing purposes. All activity on social media pages and our official website will only be available for 3 years from the date it is posted.
Dream Big Dance Challenge reserves the right to amend terms & conditions as required. Any amendments will always be shared on social media and up to date terms and conditions made available on our website.
Competition Entries
All entries must be lodged online at www.comps-online.com.au.
Payment for entries are made at time of lodgement.
Comps-Online charge a booking fee per invoice.
Late entries may be possible by contacting us by email to discuss. A late fee of $10 per act will apply.
Change to your entrant’s act, where there has not been an administrative error, may be possible subject to availability and where the program has not been finalised. A $20 fee will apply to each change.
GST will be added to total invoice, pricing listed below is exclusive of GST.

NO refunds will be provided once payment has been received and processed unless we cancel the event and do not reschedule.

Entry closing date
Dream Big Dance Challenge reserves the right to close entries prior to the cut off date should we reach the maximum number of entrants.
Dancer Competitor’s Pass
Is compulsory for every entrant and is automatically included at checkout. This registration includes any (if applicable) music license fees, an emailed program and unlimited free entry for spectators at solos, duos & trios events.
Costumes and Stage Attire
Costumes must be age-appropriate and suitable for performances in a family-friendly environment.
All dancers are to wear dance tights in every genre except hip hop.
Improv – plain dance attire appropriate for the genre eg. leotard, crop and shorts. No costumes or bling.

Shoes for each style must be worn as follows:

Classical - Ballet Shoes or Pointe shoes

Jazz - Jazz Shoes

Tap - Tap shoes

Lyrical/Contemporary – Turning shoes/half soles (one, two or no shoes can be worn)

Hip Hop – Sneakers (no white bottom sneakers)

Acro – bare feet acceptable

Dressing Rooms
All entrants are to change in allocated changing areas.
All entrants must abide by venue policies and procedures at all times.
All entrants agree to respect everyone’s belongings and personal space.
All entrants are responsible for ensuring that all dressing room areas are to be kept tidy at the end of the day.
Any entrant found to have caused damage to the changing areas will be charged the relevant repair costs. Please notify staff or Dream Big Dance Challenge crew immediately of any damage caused to dressing room areas.
Troupes will be allocated a dressing room area.
Troupes must be supervised at all times.

Music
Dream Big Dance Challenge uses Music Uploads for all music upload – www.musicuploads.com.au.
All music must be uploaded at least 14 days prior to the event.
It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure the correct music has been uploaded and checked on Music Uploads.
Please be sure to have a backup of your music if we need it (backup on USB or mobile phone).
All music uploaded to Music Uploads to participate in one of our competitions either by an entrant or studio, must be properly licensed for live performance use. It is the entrant’s or studio’s responsibility to obtain all licenses necessary for use of music at any of our competitions. Entrants must understand and adhere to copyright responsibilities. We will not be held responsible for any infringement of copyright, royalty or privacy laws by entrants or studios associated with the performance.
By entering any of our competitions, it is agreed that entrants, parents/guardians, and teachers agree to hold and indemnify Dream Big Dance Challenge or its officers, directors, or employees from any and all claims associated with use of entrant’s or studio’s selected music.
Music must not contain any explicit language and be age appropriate. Music containing explicit language will be disqualified.
No pre-recorded tapping sounds are permitted in tap routine music.

Classical – classical movements and ballet technique

Jazz – a routine using jazz technique

Any style Tap – including waltz, speed or street tap

Lyrical – a dance routine that uses ballet technique with slow flowing movements

Contemporary – a dance routine incorporating various styles while demonstrating a strong foundation in ballet and modern technique

Entertainment section - includes broadway jazz, song and dance, song and tap, musical theatre

Any Style – any genre not included in a particular section or a second routine eg acro, demi character and hip hop

Entrant Check-in

Arrive 1 hour before scheduled time.

For entrants who are scheduled to perform within the first 2 hours of the competition, they should be present when the doors open.

Doors will open 30mins – 1 hour before the event starting date depending on the venue. Entrants will be notified via our Facebook page of this information.

Props
Entrants are permitted to use props during their performances.
Entrants must remove props promptly from the stage after their performance.
Entrants must remove any debris promptly from the stage after their performance.
Dream Big Dance Challenge WILL NOT be held liable for any injuries resulting from the use of props.
Dream Big Dance Challenge WILL NOT be held liable for any damage caused to the venue resulting from the use of props. Any damage caused by the use of props will be charged to the entrant of any/all repair costs.

Duos and Trios
An entrant may choose to dance with a different duo or trio in the same category.
Entrants may only compete a maximum of 2 acts in this section.
Programming will take this into consideration but ultimately it is up to the entrant not to delay due to costume changes and it is the responsibility of the entrant to ensure this does not occur.

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and Highly Commended.

Video critiques will be uploaded to your Music Uploads account.

Backstage
It is the responsibility of all entrants to arrive backstage at least 5 acts prior to their scheduled performance.
No parents permitted backstage
All entrants and parents must always follow the direction of backstage crew.
No mobile phones are allowed backstage.

Program
A draft program will be sent out approximately 3 weeks prior to the event for you to review and ensure all entries are correct. You will be provided 1 week from the draft program release to request any changes (see rules in relation to changes).
A final program will then be available 2 weeks prior to the event. There will be no changes able to be made after the final program is released.
We have the right to amend the program at any time, if necessary.
We aim to run on time or early (up to 45mins early). We recommend you arrive at least 1 hour early for your section to ensure you have ample time to prepare. We are not responsible should an entrant miss their scheduled time, including when running early.
We will always try our best to update social media to advise how the day is running, keeping you informed about any schedule changes or updates.
Late entries may be possible by contacting Us to discuss individual circumstances.
A late fee of $10 per act will apply.
Changes to Program - should you need to make a change to your entrant’s act, where there has not been an administrative error, a change fee of $20 per change will apply. Changes are subject to availability and space and can only occur prior to the final program being released.

Adjudicator
The adjudicator’s decision is final. Please do not speak to the judge at any time during the competition
If an adjudicator is unable to perform his/her duties, Dream Big Dance Challenge reserves the right to appoint a new adjudicator without notice.
Videos & Photos
The taking of photographs by cameras, video cameras or mobile phone cameras of any performance is strictly forbidden.
A professional videographer and photographer will be available at each event.
On a paid entry, you agree to be photographed and videoed.

Dance Teacher/Coach to collect competitor wrist bands at check in.
Wrist bands must be worn during the event or competitors will not be able to enter backstage areas. Additional passes may be purchased on the day at from the check in counter.
Each studio will be given 2 free Dance Teacher/Coach wrist bands. Additional Teacher/Coach passes may be purchased on the day from check in counter.
